Aya has the potential to demonstrate a virtual abortion accompaniment model as an essential safe, acceptable and feasible Harm Reduction tool in the safe abortion ecosystem to support women’s quality of care through a self managed medication abortion.

Aya can reduce indirect costs and resources associated with traditional over the phone or in person accompaniment models while increasing access and reach at scale.

Aya empowers women to self-manage their sexual and reproductive health journey and provides a scalable approach to increasing access to reliable safe abortion, family planning, and SGBV information and support.

Aya is co-designed in a particularly challenging humanitarian context (Venezuela) therefore Aya can be scaled to other challenging settings to address the sexual and reproductive health needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized women and girls in similarly challenging contexts.
